Academics & Programs
Curriculum
We offer a curriculum that meets A-G requirements with an emphasis on basic skills and credit recovery and leading to a full high school diploma. We are WASC accredited.
Our college-prep curriculum fulfills the requirements to enter a 4-year university. This curriculum is based in social justice and critical thinking. In addition to college and career preparation, we offer ethnic studies, visual and performing arts, and opportunities for social and political activism.
We offer internships to make real-world connections to our learning through our CTE Pathway of Education, Child development and Family Services, encouraging students to become Oakland’s next generation of culturally competent teachers.

Every Student Matters, Every Dream Counts
CTM
Our small classes average 20 students. This allows for personalized, caring instruction and strong relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Our unique Counselor/Teacher/Mentor program provides each student with one faculty member who provides daily assistance, guidance, and tracks the student’s progress.
The CTM build intentional relationships through restorative peacemaking circle processes, modeling and leading dynamic mindfulness in the classroom and by communicating daily with students and families. We have various afternoon clubs where students have the opportunity to earn elective credit – gardening, photography, art, chess, coding, soccer, and travel club. Students have the opportunity for travel abroad; most recently groups have traveled to Paris, France and a trip to Italy is being planned.
